Treating Cavities with White Fillings
At Dr Beshar's office, having a tooth filled has changed. Instead of poking teeth to find cavities, we use a laser light to give an accurate measurement of the depth of the grooves and decay in an unfilled tooth. This removes guesswork for both doctor and patient as they read the LED readout together.
Filling the cavity is also a much more pleasant experience. Smaller cavities can be treated with air abrasion, which uses air and small particles to cleanse decay entirely so the tooth can receive an invisible white filling. This painless and conservative technique eliminates the need for novocaine.
Many patients now choose mercury-free white fillings when it is time to replace their old silver ones. White fillings restore the natural appearance of the tooth, making it the more aesthetic choice. Not only do patients enjoy the beauty of their restored white teeth, but they also have confidence in these stronger new materials.
